Joan Merrilees, recipient of the Athletics Otago Official of the Year at the recent Awards Night, is still tirelessly serving our Sport!

In May 2023 Joan attended an Oceania congress in Fiji, on behalf of Master's, and both herself and Alex Merrilees were awarded Merit Awards for Long and Distinguished services to Athletics.

Alex can be seen every weekend during Summer officiating and works behind the scene as one of the DCC liason of officers to ensure The Caledonian Track is fit for purpose week in and out.

We are so lucky to have Joan and Alex involved in Athletics Otago. Their commitment and passion for Athletics extends throughout our whole sport.
