Race Entry Information
- The Big Easy Time Trial will be run on the original Big Easy Signal Hill track starting in the car park behind Logan Park High School and finishing at the Signal Hill monument.
- The course is approximately 6 km and is uphill the entire way.
- Competitors are to stay on the marked track (course). Cutting corners on any part of the course is not allowed. Failure to stay on the marked track may lead to competitor disqualification.
- Competitors are to stay at least 2 metres apart, with faster competitors passing slower competitors on the right.
- It is the responsibility of each competitor to carry their own water and clothing. It is recommended that competitors carry a warm top as it can be very cold in the exposed summit area.
- It is the responsibility of each competitor to make their own way down from the finish area. No one is to run back down the Big Easy track until all competitors have completed the course.
- In a time trial, each competitor starts by themself at a designated time with the fastest competitors starting at the later time intervals.
- The time interval between competitors will be determined by the number of entries and is going to be either 30 seconds or 1 minute. The Athletics Otago handicapper will seed the entries and determine the starting time for each competitor.
- Walkers will start in intervals from 10:00am with the first runner starting at 10:30am.
- Participation in this time trial event is open to club and community runners and walkers aged 16 years and above. The minimum age requirement has been established due to the challenging uphill course, potential risks associated with cyclists descending the route, and restricted access to the track, which may affect the timely extraction of any injured participants.
- When entering, please include a time estimate (5km & where it was done)
- Ages are taken as at 31st December 2025 except that Masters ages are on the day.
- All entries are to be done online via Athletics Otago website athleticsotago.co.nz
Online entries close on Wednesday 13th August at midnight.
